The kiosk in the center of the Principe gardens is a famous meeting point for well-healed Portuguese society where they will enjoy coffee together and a delicious Portuguese pastry under the umbrella of high canopied trees. As you walk out of the building, you can choose to turn left and shortly you will be in Principe Real where you have a selection of different restaurants, bars or kiosk cafés, there are a couple of museums but be sure to find different sight viewings over the city, one of them being the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. If you decide to turn right, and adventure in between the different alleys close to the apartment you will find Bairro Alto, where you will find a couple of Fado restaurants but the highlight of this neighborhood is its authenticity. If you proceed walking down in direction of Rio Tejo, you will be on route to Cais do Sodré where you will be able to find Mercado da Ribeiro, Rua Rosa (pink Street) and so many other great gastronomic and cultural options.
