The Duomo area constitutes the authentic heart of Florence and takes its name from Brunelleschi's famous dome that finishes the majestic cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Around the Duomo are countless historical buildings and beautiful squares such as the San Lorenzo Market, the Piazza del Duomo and the Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its historical bars, pastry shops, live music performances and street artists.
